THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Friday 22nd October 2021
Every problem has in it the seeds of its own solution. If you don't have any problems, you don't get any seeds.
~ Norman Vincent Peale
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the
comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Thought for the Week - Jacquie Peal.
We are having a short holiday, down in Dartmoor this week. Yesterday we walked up to Bellever Tor, near where we are staying in Postbridge. It was a perfect, blue October day and as we climbed higher the moor gradually revealed itself to us. Below was the dark, man-made pine-forest that we had walked up through: above and beyond that the soft tawny of the wilder moorland rising to the black-topped tors in the far distance. Between the two there were farms, mostly cattle and sheep, scattered around above the deep, tree-filled valleys. Over all, the gentle lilac-blue of the autumn air and the inky cloud shadows chasing each other across the landscape, uniting all its differences in one, perfect whole.
So much diversity in, such a small area - five miles encompassed all the different aspects – but all a perfect whole.
That's our world for you!
Thank you, loving Father, for this world. Help us to love and cherish what you have given to all your creation with such generosity and help us to use it with wisdom and open-hearted kindness.
